On 25 June 2025, numerous industry representatives, along with international guests from politics and business, gathered to reflect on HDSL’s 75-year journey of development.
HDSL is Federal Association of German Footwear and Leather Goods Industry, which co-owns PFI along with DSI (German Shoe Institute) and the city of Pirmasens.
Candice Wang, Managing Director of PFI Fareast, was on site to honour its significant achievements and exchange with industry stakeholders
On 26 June, following the HDS/L anniversary celebrations, in the annual CADS Information Day, experts addressed the regulatory challenges faced by the industry such as
- PEF (Product Environmental Footprint)
- ESPR (Eco-Design Regulation)
- EUDR (Deforestation Regulation)
- PPWR (Packaging and Waste Regulation)
Dr. Johannes Menges,Scientific Assistant of PFI Pirmasens,represented The Environment Working Group with update on the Product Environmental Footprint (PEF). A workshop in September in Pirmasens will provide further guidance.
Dr. Ines Anderie, Head of Chemical and Microbiological Analysis at PFI Pirmasens, represented Chemicals Working Group with update on upcoming Cads RSL 2025 V12 and new PFAS test methods. PFI are developing test methods that could become future DIN standards.
